VMware vCenter Server (6.5 prior to 6.5 U1) contains a vulnerability that may allow for stored cross-site scripting (XSS). An attacker with VC user privileges can inject malicious java-scripts which will get executed when other VC users access the page.

It is assigned to the family Misc. and running in the context r. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 216128 (VMware vCenter Server 6.5 Update 1 Missing (VMSA-2017-0015, VMSA-2017-0017)).

Applying the patch 6.5 U1 is able to eliminate this problem. A possible mitigation has been published even before and not after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
