The bug was discovered 01/12/2017. The weakness was published 12/05/2017 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at lists.debian.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2016-1255 since 12/27/2015. The attack needs to be approached locally. Required for exploitation is a single authentication.
