A vulnerability was found in SQLite up to 3.22.0. It has been rated as critical. Affected by this issue is some unknown processing of the file build.c of the component Create Table As STatement Handler. In SQLite through 3.22.0, databases whose schema is corrupted using a CREATE TABLE AS statement could cause a NULL pointer dereference, related to build.c and prepare.c.
The bug was discovered 03/16/2018. The weakness was disclosed 03/17/2018 by OSS-Fuzz (Website). The advisory is available at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2018-8740 since 03/16/2018. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation.
