ephy-session.c in libephymain.so in GNOME Web (aka Epiphany) through 3.28.2.1 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (application crash) via JavaScript code that triggers access to a NULL URL, as demonstrated by a crafted window.open call.

The bug was discovered 05/24/2018. The weakness was presented 05/23/2018 as Bug 795740 as not defined bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is available at bugzilla.gnome.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2018-11396 since 05/23/2018. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation.
