In Wireshark 2.6.0 to 2.6.1 and 2.4.0 to 2.4.7, the CoAP protocol dissector could crash. This was addressed in epan/dissectors/packet-coap.c by properly checking for a NULL condition.
The bug was discovered 07/18/2018. The weakness was released 07/19/2018 as Bug 14966 as confirmed bug report (Bugzilla). It is possible to read the advisory at bugs.wireshark.org. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2018-14367 since 07/17/2018. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication.
