A vulnerability was found in Apple tvOS up to 10.2.0 (Digital Media Player). It has been declared as critical. This vulnerability affects an unknown code block of the component SQLite. The bug was discovered 05/10/2017. The weakness was disclosed 05/15/2017 by Patrick Wardle (OSS-Fuzz) with Google Project Zero as HT207801 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is available at support.apple.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2017-2518 since 12/01/2016. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. The advisory points out:

The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 5 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $5k-$25k. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 100270 (macOS 10.12.x < 10.12.5 Multiple Vulnerabilities), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family MacOS X Local Security Checks and running in the context c. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 176711 (Debian Security Update for sqlite3 (DLA 1633-1)).
Upgrading to version 10.2.1 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
