Details
A vulnerability was found in InsideSecure MatrixSSL 3.8.7b. It has been classified as critical. This affects some unknown processing of the component X.509 Certificate Parser. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a integer overflow vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-190. The product performs a calculation that can produce an integer overflow or wraparound, when the logic assumes that the resulting value will always be larger than the original value. This can introduce other weaknesses when the calculation is used for resource management or execution control. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
An integer overflow vulnerability exists in the X509 certificate parsing functionality of InsideSecure MatrixSSL 3.8.7b. A specially crafted x509 certificate can cause a length counter to overflow, leading to a controlled out of bounds copy operation. To trigger this vulnerability, a specially crafted x509 certificate must be presented to the vulnerable client or server application when initiating secure connection
The bug was discovered 06/22/2016. The weakness was shared 06/22/2017 by Aleksandar Nikolic with Cisco Talos (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at securityfocus.com.
