as part of a Metadata leads to a resource consumption vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-400. The product does not properly control the allocation and maintenance of a limited resource, thereby enabling an actor to influence the amount of resources consumed, eventually leading to the exhaustion of available resources. When GraphicsMagick 1.3.25 processes a DPX image (with metadata indicating a large width) in coders/dpx.c, a denial of service (OOM) can occur in ReadDPXImage().
The bug was discovered 07/06/2017. The weakness was disclosed 07/03/2017 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at hg.code.sf.net. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2017-10799 since 07/02/2017. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation.
