A vulnerability was found in Cacti 1.1.12 (Log Management Software). It has been classified as problematic. Affected is the function die_html_input_error
in the library lib/html_validate.php of the file link.php. The manipulation of the argument id
as part of a Parameter leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-79. The software does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes user-controllable input before it is placed in output that is used as a web page that is served to other users. This is going to have an impact on integrity.
The bug was discovered 07/07/2017. The weakness was disclosed 07/06/2017 (GitHub Repository). The advisory is shared for download at github.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2017-10970 since 07/06/2017. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1059.007.

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 101862 (Fedora 24 : cacti (2017-3db2a34403)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Fedora Local Security Checks and running in the context local. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 276791 (Fedora Security Update for cacti (FEDORA-2017-3db2a34403)).
Upgrading eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published 2 weeks after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
