with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Directory traversal vulnerability in node/utils/Minify.js in Etherpad 1.1.1 through 1.5.2 allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files by leveraging replacement of backslashes with slashes in the path parameter of HTTP API requests.
The bug was discovered 04/10/2015. The weakness was disclosed 07/07/2017 by Tom Hunkapiller (oss-sec). The advisory is shared for download at openwall.com.
