The DNS-over-TCP implementation in Cisco IOS 12.2 and 15.0 through 15.3, when NAT is used, allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (device reload) via a crafted IPv4 DNS TCP stream, aka Bug ID CSCtn53730.

The weakness was published 09/25/2013 as cisco-sa-20130925-nat as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is available at tools.cisco.com. The public release has been coordinated with the vendor. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2013-5479 since 08/22/2013. The exploitation is known to be difficult. The attack may be launched remotely.
