The bug was discovered 03/23/2015. The weakness was released 08/09/2017 by Andy Brody (oss-sec). The advisory is shared for download at openwall.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2015-1820 since 02/17/2015. The attack needs to be approached locally. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation.
