The _WM_SetupMidiEvent function in internal_midi.c:2315 in WildMIDI 0.4.2 can cause a denial of service (invalid memory read and application crash) via a crafted mid file.

The bug was discovered 08/07/2017. The weakness was presented 08/17/2017 as confirmed mailinglist post (Full-Disclosure). The advisory is available at seclists.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2017-11663 since 07/26/2017. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation.
