CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in Apple iOS 7.0.2 (Smartphone Operating System). This issue affects an unknown functionality of the component Find My iPhone. The manipulation as part of a Airplane Mode leads to a security check vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-358. The product does not implement or incorrectly implements one or more security-relevant checks as specified by the design of a standardized algorithm, protocol, or technique. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

The weakness was presented 10/03/2013 by Ben Schlabs with Security Research Labs as not defined news (Website). The advisory is shared at reuters.com. The public release happened without involvement of Apple. An attack has to be approached locally. The successful exploitation needs a simple authentication. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available. The price for an exploit might be around USD $5k-$25k at the moment (estimation calculated on 03/24/2019). It is expected to see the exploit prices for this product increasing in the near future.MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1211 for this issue. Is an attacker able to switch the iPhone to airplane mode, the function "Find My iPhone" can not be used anymore for a remote wipe. An attacker is gaining time to lookup the owners e-mail address. By requesting the credentials, he is able to take full control over the iPhone

It is declared as proof-of-concept. We expect the 0-day to have been worth approximately $25k-$100k.

It is possible to mitigate the problem by applying the configuration setting . Configure the iPhone to not allow the activation of airplane mode if the phone is locked.
