TelescopeJS before 0.15 leaks user bcrypt password hashes in websocket messages, which might allow remote attackers to obtain password hashes via a cross-site scripting attack.
The bug was discovered 03/21/2015. The weakness was shared 09/06/2017 by Shubham Shah (oss-sec). The advisory is shared at openwall.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2015-3454 since 04/29/2015. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1592 for this issue.

Upgrading to version 0.15 eliminates this vulnerability. It is possible to mitigate the problem by adding an authentication mechanism. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be adding authentication.
