The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 91409 (Microsoft Edge Security Update for September 2017).

Applying the patch KB4038782 is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at catalog.update.microsoft.com. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
