A vulnerability was found in WordPress up to 4.8.1 (Content Management System). It has been classified as critical. This affects some unknown processing of the component Customizer. The manipulation as part of a Theme leads to a path traversal vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. The bug was discovered 09/19/2017. The weakness was presented 09/23/2017 by Security Team (Alex) with WordPress Security Team (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at securityfocus.com.
