The mode4and5 write functions in hw/display/cirrus_vga.c in Qemu allow local OS guest privileged users to cause a denial of service (out-of-bounds write access and Qemu process crash) via vectors related to dst calculation.
The bug was discovered 10/12/2017. The weakness was presented 10/16/2017 (oss-sec). The advisory is shared for download at openwall.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2017-15289 since 10/12/2017. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack needs to be approached locally. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation.
