MediaWiki before 1.18.5, and 1.19.x before 1.19.2 does not send a restrictive X-Frame-Options HTTP header, which allows remote attackers to conduct clickjacking attacks via an embedded API response in an IFRAME element.
The bug was discovered 03/04/2016. The weakness was released 10/19/2017 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at lists.wikimedia.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2012-4379 since 08/21/2012. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation.
