The read_header function in libavcodec/ffv1dec.c in FFmpeg 3.3.4 and earlier allows remote attackers to have unspecified impact via a crafted MP4 file, which triggers an out-of-bounds read.

The bug was discovered 11/03/2017. The weakness was presented 11/06/2017 with Qihoo 360 GearTeam (oss-sec). It is possible to read the advisory at openwall.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2017-15672 since 10/20/2017. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit.
