A vulnerability has been found in MetalGenix GeniXCMS up to 0.0.3 (Content Management System) and classified as critical. This vulnerability affects an unknown function in the library inc/lib/User.class.php. The manipulation of the argument email/userid as part of a Parameter leads to a sql injection vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-89. The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

Multiple SQL injection vulnerabilities in inc/lib/User.class.php in MetalGenix GeniXCMS before 0.0.3-patch allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary SQL commands via the (1) email parameter or (2) userid parameter to register.php.

The bug was discovered 06/24/2015. The weakness was presented 11/08/2017 by cfreer as EDB-ID 37363 as not defined exploit (Exploit-DB). The advisory is shared for download at exploit-db.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2015-3933 since 05/12/2015. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details and also a public exploit are known. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1505.

A public exploit has been developed by cfreer and been published even before and not after the advisory. It is possible to download the exploit at exploit-db.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 868 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $0-$5k. By approaching the search of inurl:inc/lib/User.class.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking.

Upgrading eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch 0.0.3-patch is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at github.com. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.
