Citrix XenDesktop 7.0, when upgraded from XenDesktop 5.x, does not properly enforce policy rule permissions, which allows remote attackers to bypass intended restrictions.

The weakness was published 10/22/2013 with Citrix as Vulnerability in XenDesktop 7.0 Upgrade Could Result in Policy Bypass as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is shared at support.citrix.com. The public release has been coordinated with Citrix. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2013-6077 since 10/11/2013. An attack has to be approached locally. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1068 for this issue.

It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 70741 (Citrix XenDesktop BrokerAccessPolicyRule Policy Rule Remote Security Bypass), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Windows.
