A vulnerability was found in DBL DBLTek (unknown version). It has been rated as critical. This issue affects an unknown code block of the file frame.html of the component HTTP Basic Authentication. The manipulation of the argument passwd
as part of a Parameter leads to a os command injection vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-78. The product constructs all or part of an OS command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended OS command when it is sent to a downstream component. The web server on DBL DBLTek devices allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary OS commands by obtaining the admin password via a frame.html?content=/dev/mtdblock/5 request, and then using this password for the HTTP Basic Authentication needed for a change_password.csp request, which supports a "<%%25call system.exec:" string in the passwd parameter.
The bug was discovered 11/24/2017. The weakness was released 11/24/2017 (Website). The advisory is shared at blogs.securiteam.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2017-16934 since 11/24/2017. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1202 for this issue.
