A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in Linux Kernel up to 4.14.5 (Operating System). Affected is the function usb_destroy_configuration
of the file drivers/usb/core/config.c of the component USB Core System. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a out-of-bounds write vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-787. The product writes data past the end, or before the beginning, of the intended buffer. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
The usb_destroy_configuration function in drivers/usb/core/config.c in the USB core subsystem in the Linux kernel through 4.14.5 does not consider the maximum number of configurations and interfaces before attempting to release resources, which allows local users to cause a denial of service (out-of-bounds access) or possibly have unspecified other impact.
