The Erlang otp TLS server answers with different TLS alerts to different error types in the RSA PKCS #1 1.5 padding. This allows an attacker to decrypt content or sign messages with the server's private key (this is a variation of the Bleichenbacher attack).
The bug was discovered 12/12/2017. The weakness was released 12/12/2017 by Juraj Somorovsky with Tripwire VERT (Website). The advisory is shared at erlang.org. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2017-1000385 since 11/29/2017. The exploitation appears to be difficult. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1600 for this issue.
