A vulnerability was found in ScummVM up to 1.8.x. It has been classified as critical. Affected is an unknown code of the file backends/platform/sdl/posix/posix.cpp of the component URL Handler. The manipulation of the argument BROWSER
as part of a Environment Variable leads to a injection vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-74. The product constructs all or part of a command, data structure, or record using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify how it is parsed or interpreted when it is sent to a downstream component. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
backends/platform/sdl/posix/posix.cpp in ScummVM 1.9.0 does not validate strings before launching the program specified by the BROWSER environment variable, which might allow remote attackers to conduct argument-injection attacks via a crafted URL.
