common/help.c in Geomview 1.9.5 does not validate strings before launching the program specified by the BROWSER environment variable, which might allow remote attackers to conduct argument-injection attacks via a crafted URL.

The bug was discovered 12/14/2017. The weakness was published 12/14/2017 (Website). The advisory is available at security-tracker.debian.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2017-17530 since 12/11/2017. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation.
