D-Link DIR-130 firmware version 1.23 and DIR-330 firmware version 1.12 do not sufficiently protect administrator credentials. The tools_admin.asp page discloses the administrator password in base64 encoding in the returned web page. A remote attacker with access to this page (potentially through a authentication bypass such as CVE-2017-3191) may obtain administrator credentials for the device.
The bug was discovered 03/15/2017. The weakness was presented 12/16/2017 as confirmed advisory (CERT.org). The advisory is available at kb.cert.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2017-3192 since 12/05/2016. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. The structure of the vulnerability defines a possible price range of USD $5k-$25k at the moment (estimation calculated on 12/25/2024).
