The bug was discovered 12/13/2017. The weakness was shared 12/20/2017 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at hg.graphicsmagick.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2017-17783 since 12/19/2017. The exploitation appears to be difficult. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
