The weakness was disclosed 11/20/2013 by Heine Deelstra with Drupal Security Team as SA-CORE-2013-003 as not defined advisory (Website). The advisory is available at drupal.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2013-6389 since 11/04/2013. The attack can be initiated remotely. The successful exploitation requires a single authentication. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 71098 (Debian DSA-2804-1 : drupal7 - several vulnerabilities), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Debian Local Security Checks. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 12786 (Drupal Core Multiple Remote Vulnerabilities (SA-CORE-2013-003)).

Upgrading to version 7.24 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
