The bug was discovered 10/30/2013. The weakness was presented 11/16/2013 by Julien Ahrens with RCE Security as Avira Secure Backup v1.0.0.1 Buffer Overflow as not defined advisory (Website). The advisory is shared for download at rcesecurity.com. The public release was coordinated in cooperation with the vendor. This vulnerability was named CVE-2013-6356 since 11/03/2013. The attack needs to be approached locally. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available.
