Incorrect security UI in Omnibox in Google Chrome prior to 64.0.3282.119 allowed a remote attacker to spoof the contents of the Omnibox (URL bar) via a crafted HTML page.
The bug was discovered 01/24/2018. The weakness was presented 01/24/2018 by Masato Kinugawa (Paul) with Tencent (Website). The advisory is available at chromereleases.googleblog.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2018-6042 since 01/23/2018. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.
