In Joomla! before 3.8.4, the lack of type casting of a variable in a SQL statement leads to a SQL injection vulnerability in the Hathor postinstall message.
The weakness was disclosed 01/30/2018 (Website). The advisory is shared at developer.joomla.org. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2018-6376 since 01/29/2018. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available.
