Multiple buffer overflow vulnerabilities exist in the HTTPd server in Asus asuswrt version <=3.0.0.4.376.X. All have been fixed in version 3.0.0.4.378, but this vulnerability was not previously disclosed. Some end-of-life routers have this version as the newest and thus are vulnerable at this time. This vulnerability allows for RCE with administrator rights when the administrator visits several pages.

The bug was discovered 01/14/2018. The weakness was published 01/31/2018 as not defined mailinglist post (Full-Disclosure). It is possible to read the advisory at seclists.org. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2017-15655 since 10/19/2017. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available.
