An issue was discovered in KDE Plasma Workspace before 5.12.0. dataengines/notifications/notificationsengine.cpp allows remote attackers to discover client IP addresses via a URL in a notification, as demonstrated by the src attribute of an IMG element.

The bug was discovered 01/31/2018. The weakness was presented 02/07/2018 as confirmed git commit (GIT Repository). The advisory is available at cgit.kde.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2018-6790 since 02/06/2018. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. This vulnerability is assigned to T1592 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
