A vulnerability was found in Bonita BPM Portal up to 6.5.2 (Business Process Management Software) and classified as critical. Affected by this issue is an unknown code of the file bonita/login.jsp. The manipulation of the argument redirectUrl as part of a Parameter leads to a redirect vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-601. A web application accepts a user-controlled input that specifies a link to an external site, and uses that link in a Redirect. This simplifies phishing attacks. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

Multiple open redirect vulnerabilities in Bonita BPM Portal before 6.5.3 allow remote attackers to redirect users to arbitrary web sites and conduct phishing attacks via vectors involving the redirectUrl parameter to (1) bonita/login.jsp or (2) bonita/loginservice.

The bug was discovered 06/10/2015. The weakness was released 02/28/2018 as confirmed posting (Bugtraq). The advisory is shared for download at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2015-3898 since 05/12/2015. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1204.001.

A public exploit has been developed by High-Tech Bridge SA and been published even before and not after the advisory. The exploit is available at exploit-db.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 994 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $0-$5k. By approaching the search of inurl:bonita/login.jsp it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking.

Upgrading to version 6.5.3 eliminates this vulnerability.
