Use-after-free vulnerability in the Scripting Runtime Object Library in Microsoft Windows XP SP2 and SP3, Windows Server 2003 SP2, Windows Vista SP2, Windows Server 2008 SP2 and R2 SP1, Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2012 Gold and R2, and Windows RT Gold and 8.1 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service (memory corruption) via a crafted web site that is visited with Internet Explorer, aka "Use-After-Free Vulnerability in Microsoft Scripting Runtime Object Library."

The weakness was released 12/10/2013 with Microsoft as MS13-099 as confirmed bulletin (Technet). The advisory is shared for download at technet.microsoft.com. The public release was coordinated with the vendor. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2013-5056 since 08/06/2013. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available.

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 71314 (MS13-099: Vulnerability in Microsoft Scripting Runtime Object Library Could Allow Remote Code Execution (2909158)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Windows : Microsoft Bulletins.

Applying the patch MS13-099 is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at technet.microsoft.com.
