An issue was discovered in ImageMagick 7.0.7. The MogrifyImageList function in MagickWand/mogrify.c allows attackers to cause a denial of service (assertion failure and application exit in ReplaceImageInList) via a crafted file.
The bug was discovered 09/30/2017. The weakness was shared 03/27/2018 (GitHub Repository). The advisory is shared for download at github.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2017-18252 since 03/26/2018. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication.
