A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in Huawei DP300, RP200, TE30, TE40, TE50 and TE60 (Unified Communication Software). This issue affects an unknown functionality of the component SSCP Message Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
Huawei DP300 V500R002C00, RP200 V600R006C00, TE30 V100R001C10, V500R002C00, V600R006C00, TE40 V500R002C00, V600R006C00, TE50 V500R002C00, V600R006C00, TE60 V100R001C10, V500R002C00, V600R006C00 have an invalid memory access vulnerability. An unauthenticated attacker has to find a way to send malformed SCCP messages to the affected products. Due to insufficient input validation of some values in the messages, successful exploit may cause buffer error and some service abnormal.
The bug was discovered 04/25/2018. The weakness was shared 04/30/2018 (Website). The advisory is shared at huawei.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2017-17314 since 12/04/2017. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. The price for an exploit might be around USD $5k-$25k at the moment (estimation calculated on 03/08/2023).
The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 5 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $5k-$25k.
