The International Domain Name (IDN) support in Safari 1.2.5 allows remote attackers to spoof domain names using punycode encoded domain names that are decoded in URLs and SSL certificates in a way that uses homograph characters from other character sets, which facilitates phishing attacks.

The weakness was published 02/06/2005 by Eric Johanson (Website). The advisory is shared for download at shmoo.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2005-0234 since 02/07/2005. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available.
