Oracle HTTP Server 11.1.1.6.0/11.1.1.7.0/11.1.2.1 OSSL Module Stored privileges management

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a privileges management vulnerability (Stored). CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-269. The product does not properly assign, modify, track, or check privileges for an actor, creating an unintended sphere of control for that actor. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality. The summary by CVE is:

The default SSL cipher configuration in Apache Tomcat 4.1.28 through 4.1.31, 5.0.0 through 5.0.30, and 5.5.0 through 5.5.17 uses certain insecure ciphers, including the anonymous cipher, which allows remote attackers to obtain sensitive information or have other, unspecified impacts.

The weakness was shared 01/14/2014 as Oracle Critical Patch Update Advisory - January 2014 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is shared at oracle.com. This vulnerability can be exploited via HTTPS. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2007-1858 since 04/04/2007. The exploitability is told to be difficult. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1068 for this issue.

It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 31673 (openSUSE 10 Security Update : apache2-mod_jk (apache2-mod_jk-5066)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family SuSE Local Security Checks.

Applying a patch is able to eliminate this problem. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.

The vulnerability is also documented in the databases at X-Force (34212) and Tenable (31673). The entries 1096, 1867, 3071 and 11900 are related to this item.
