It is possible to execute JavaScript in the parsed RSS feed when RSS feed is viewed as a website, e.g. via "View -> Feed article -> Website" or in the standard format of "View -> Feed article -> default format". This vulnerability affects Thunderbird < 52.5.2.
The bug was discovered 12/22/2017. The weakness was released 06/11/2018 by Sabri Haddouche with Cure53 as Bug 1411716 as not defined bug report (Bugzilla). No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction.
