The bug was discovered 02/07/2005. The weakness was presented 02/09/2005 by mikx and Juha-Matti Laurio (Website). The advisory is shared for download at mikx.de. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2005-0231 since 02/07/2005. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Technical details are unknown but an exploit is available.

The exploit is available at mikx.de. It is declared as proof-of-concept. As 0-day the estimated underground price was around $5k-$25k. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be establishing an alternative product. A possible mitigation has been published 3 months after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
