Command injection vulnerability in networking of QNAP Q'center Virtual Appliance version 1.7.1063 and earlier could allow authenticated users to run arbitrary commands.
The bug was discovered 07/11/2018. The weakness was disclosed 07/17/2018 as not defined posting (Bugtraq). The advisory is shared at securityfocus.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2018-0708 since 11/28/2017. The attack may be initiated remotely. A simple authentication is needed for exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1202 for this issue.
The exploit is available at exploit-db.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 5 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $0-$5k. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 13302 (QNAP Qcenter Virtual Appliance Vulnerabilities(NAS-201807-10-201807-10)).
