foreman before version 1.16.0 is vulnerable to a stored XSS in organizations/locations assignment to hosts. Exploiting this requires a user to actively assign hosts to an organization that contains html in its name which is visible to the user prior to taking action.

The bug was discovered 07/26/2018. The weakness was disclosed 07/26/2018 with Red Hat as not defined mailinglist post (oss-sec). It is possible to read the advisory at seclists.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2017-7535 since 04/05/2017. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1059.007 according to MITRE ATT&CK.

Upgrading to version 1.16.0 eliminates this vulnerability.
