A vulnerability was found in OpenEMR up to 5.0.1.3 (Business Process Management Software). It has been rated as critical. Affected by this issue is an unknown code of the file interface/main/daemon_frame.php. The manipulation of the argument hylafax_server
as part of a Variable leads to a os command injection vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-78. The product constructs all or part of an OS command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended OS command when it is sent to a downstream component. OS command injection occurring in versions of OpenEMR before 5.0.1.4 allows a remote authenticated attacker to execute arbitrary commands by making a crafted request to interface/main/daemon_frame.php after modifying the "hylafax_server" global variable in interface/super/edit_globals.php.
The bug was discovered 08/07/2018. The weakness was released 08/15/2018 as EDB-ID 45161 as not defined exploit (Exploit-DB). The advisory is available at exploit-db.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2018-15153 since 08/07/2018. The attack may be launched remotely. A simple authentication is needed for exploitation.
