An invalid free in ExprAppendMultiKeysymList in xkbcomp/ast-build.c in xkbcommon before 0.8.1 could be used by local attackers to crash xkbcommon keymap parsers or possibly have unspecified other impact by supplying a crafted keymap file.
The bug was discovered 08/03/2018. The weakness was presented 08/25/2018 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at github.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2018-15857 since 08/24/2018. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack needs to be approached locally.
