Adobe ColdFusion versions July 12 release (2018.0.0.310739), Update 6 and earlier, and Update 14 and earlier have a use of a component with a known vulnerability vulnerability. Successful exploitation could lead to arbitrary file overwrite.

The bug was discovered 09/11/2018. The weakness was released 09/11/2018 as APSB18-33 as confirmed security bulletin (Website). The advisory is available at helpx.adobe.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2018-15960 since 08/28/2018. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.

Applying the patch 11 Update 15/2016 Update 7/2018 Update 1 is able to eliminate this problem. A possible mitigation has been published 2 hours after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
