In Open Ticket Request System (OTRS) 4.0.x before 4.0.32, 5.0.x before 5.0.30, and 6.0.x before 6.0.11, an attacker could send a malicious email to an OTRS system. If a logged in user opens it, the email could cause the browser to load external image or CSS resources.
The bug was discovered 09/21/2018. The weakness was published 09/28/2018 (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at lists.debian.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2018-16586 since 09/06/2018. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available.

Upgrading to version 4.0.32, 5.0.30 or 6.0.11 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published even before and not after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
