The $args variable in addons/mediapool/pages/index.php in REDAXO 5.6.2 is not effectively filtered, because names are not restricted (only values are restricted). The attacker can insert XSS payloads via an index.php?page=mediapool/media&opener_input_field=&args[ substring.

The bug was discovered 09/25/2018. The weakness was published 10/01/2018 (Website). The advisory is shared at github.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2018-17830 since 09/30/2018. The attack may be initiated remotely. A simple authentication is needed for exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1059.007 for this issue.
